Frontline

Frontline is a small Caribbean restaurant located on Van Horne and Lavoie. It's nothing fancy if that's what your looking for but the food is good and affordable. The atmosphere is eh well i would prefer to eat at home. The service is pretty good though! and if your not in the mood to get up not worries...free delivery! Frontline is a typical Caribbean restaurant and if you're in the mood for some good jerk chicken that's the place to go. The dishes are served in sizes small or large; and if your thinking small is petit not in this case small was like the norm so imagine what the large is like.

Upon arrival of this restaurant you'll notice it's not anything big and flashy. There's just a small sign above it that says Frontline. The restaurant was empty at the time so it wasn't too noisy. Behind the ordering counter is a small tv hung up in the corner which really was the main source of noise, it was not all disturbing though. The walls are painted white and have pictures of famous people in black people like Melcome X, Bob Marley etc. Really that about the only sort of decoration they have. The restaurant is pretty small so there's only a few tables to sit at. At the counter where you order the food reveals a small part of the kitchen where the food is made but that's about it. If you ever happened to have to use the bathroom there...well it would be best to hold it. Not that's it's nasty or anything but it's pretty cramped in there. Then again it really isn't the type of bathroom you want to take your time in.
I ordered a small oxtail which came with rice, and a piece of dumplin. The oxtail tasted really good but i notice it had alot of fat in it which sort of killed it for me.I especially like the spice in the meat which made very tasteful. Everything else was okay wasn't amazing but wasn't bad either. Overall the food was pretty satisfying in the way that filled my belly. The service was really good, the lady that served me was really nice and really good with explaining the other dishes. Alot of the times i find that the people who take orders don't know much about the different dishes. I like how the food didn't take long to come at all too.

After a few experiences at this restaurant it  seems like the type of restaurant anyone can go to for a good lunch/dinner. I suggest not to come in a large group but a group of 3 or 4 is good. The price is pretty good for the amount of food that you receive, and their are lots of choices to choose from. You can choose meat between chiken, oxtail, goat ar fish and choose to have it done anyway you like curry, jerk etc. The drinks are nothing special, drinks you can get at the corner store. They have malt, can bottles, coconut water etc.

3 Amigos

If you're looking for somewhere exciting 3 amigos is defenetly the place to go. 3 Amigos is a fancy mexican restaurant located on Ste catherine downtown. It has great food and tasty exotic drinks (Best Pina Colada!) . The atmosphere is exciting and fun defenetly a place to go if you're in a group. The service is great too the staff is friendly and inviting. Most importantly you won't waste your money you'll leave their with a full stomach. The prices are o.k not too expensive. The place is well decorated to give it that mexican vibe, overall this restaurant is a really exciting place.

This restaurants seems to be attracted to birthday parties everytime i hear of a birthaday party it's happening at this restaurant. I must say the place is well decorated, even the outside. The outside of it has three gigantic sombrero's that hang over a window with coloured lights along the top edge. As you enter the place is crowded with figurines and vases. The lower half of the wall is made of mirror and the upper part of the wall paints a picture of a group of people having a "fiesta". The other side of the wall is made up of brown stone and wood. On that side of the wall contains a bunch of little figurines some hung up and some that sit on a ledge. Coming from the ceiling are stars with lights in then that attach to the rope from the ceiling. With all theses decorations it makes the restaurant very colourful and inviting and fun. It's the type of place to hold get togethers and gets more attention from teens. I've noticed one of the things they do during birthday parties is that they'll let the birthday person get to where a sombrero. The waiters are also fun and energetic which adds on to the ambiance of the restaurant.

When it comes to food they sell of course the main Mexican food like tacos, pasta, fajitas and salads. To be specific i orderd a fajita with grilled vegetables, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream salsa and cheese with chiken. It took about 20 minutes before i received my order and it was served to me on a sizziling skillet. The meat tasted okay it wasn't delicious it was just good. The chiken didn't seem as though it had anything special done to it. In my opinion it could've had more flavor maybe a little more spice would be nice. The sauces were pretty good too then again nothing that really wowed me. The pina colada that i orderd i really enjoyed it was very refreshing and it had alot of flavour. The dessert was... kind of disapointing it was just a small slice cake served on a huge plate 1/4th of the plate is coverd in syrop. The cake was a type of mousse cake i didn't really like it.

The service was pretty good i especially liked the how the waitor was enegertic. On different occasions that i've been there the waiters all turn out to be really inviting and energitic, this definitly brings a positive energy to the restaurant. In terms of speed how long it took to receive my order it felt a little long but only because i was so eager to get my food :P. If you're looking for a restaurant with great ambiance this is the restaurant to go to!

East Side Mario's

So this week i visited East Side Mario's. Meals come with choice of  soup or salad and all you can eat garlic bread as an an entree! Oh yeah  and kids eat free! I've always past by this restaurant but delayed going for no reason. So for the first time i actually whent and really enjoyed myself. It took me less than no time to get a seat because it was late and barely anyone was there. The menu was given out right away and i orderd the seafood linguine. It's a pasta made with shrimp scallops and mussels in tomato sauce. Within 5 minutes i was served my entree of ceasar salad and garlic bread, both were really good. The ceasar salad had croutons and bacon and just enough creamy dressing on it. The garlic bread was toasted to perfection in fact my mom whom i came with enjoyed the garlic bread more than her meal. :p My meal was great i had the mussels removed though. The shrimp and scallop both tasted good mixed in the tomato sauce.

The atmosphere at the time was pretty dead not much people. The docor was nice, round light bulb's hung down from the ceiling. The walls were a darkish yellow and some parts were made from red brick which matched nicely with the square tables that had on a red and white checkerd tablecloth. The booth i sat at was right next to the window which had a beautiful scene.

The service was fast and friendly. At on point my camera needed charging and the waiter was kind of enough let me plug my camera into their outlets. Some places don't allow that so i was very thankful.  One thing i didn't like was that the first waiter was such in a rush to leave because her shift was soon over that it made me feel rushed. The seconnd waiter was more warm and welcoming. From the looks of it it looked like a good family restaurant a place were families get together to celebrate a function.

La Belle Province

This restaurant is pretty known in montreal. It's a Quebecoise burger place known to have the best poutine in montreal. So of course when i went there i had to order the famouse poutine. You can choose a choice between small or large, i chose a small because it was my first time and all. I was thinking maybe i should add a hot dog or something but oh was i glad that i didn't, for when i received my small poutine it was huge! I have a big appetite but even half way through eating this small but massive poutine i was full. The poutine was delicious and defnitly fulling! The service was fast too, the atmosphere was calm and nice it has this cool dinner look to it!

This place has been around for a long time, I’ve always head of their delicious poutine but never actually tried it. When I went there I saw that it came in two sizes small or large. I have a big appetite and so I was thinking a small wouldn’t satisfy me, and I thought hmm this isn’t going to satisfy me maybe I should order a hot dog or something. Boy was I glad that I didn’t. For when I received my poutine it was huge. I’ve never ordered a small poutine and received this amount. If this was the small I can’t imagine what the large was like. The sauce was hot and nice and salted just the way I liked it. The cheese was being nicely melted from the hot sauce. The fries were not to small nor to bog just perfect. The fries weren’t to crunchy their were more on the soft side. Half way through it and I was full already. It tasted so good though that my greed force myself to stuff the rest down. It indeed proved itself to be the best poutine I’ve ever had.

The service was pretty fast I received my order within minutes from ordering it. I like how the staff spoke English with ease even though it was evident they were both francophone’s. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The restaurant looked like an old school diner but built in a new school era. The place was surrounded with rectangular windows and had red, blue and yellow writing on it. The tables and everything was silver which it gave it the new school look but the design of it was old school. The booths were cushioned and cozy. The ceiling had the official Belle Province logo and and it was illuminated. The bathroom was pretty cheap looking and plain who ever designed the place obviously didn’t give the bathroom much thought. Overall the décor (excluding the bathroom) was really cool and fit the restaurant. This restaurant seems more attracted to younger people not the type of place for older people.

Guido & Angelina's

Guido's and Angelina's is a Italian restaurant, nothing special this restaurant was just alright definitely not worth rushing back too. The food wasn't all that it was kind of plain. I ordered a Guido Burger and it tasted very plain. Their pasta tasted a better but still nothing worth getting excited for. The service was just ok. The cost in my opinion could've been lower. The atmosphere on the other hand was pretty good it wasn't too quiet or too noisy it was just perfect. I also like the way it was decorated very pretty it adds a little umph to the dinning experince good place to go for a date!

Going through the menu their's alot to choose from. I ordered a " Guido Burger" which is 100% angus beef served with lettuce, tomato, onion and fries. Both burger and fries were pretty big which i liked. Then again the burger was so plane, their were no special sauces or anything like that, actually i don't recall any sauce being in it. The fries were good nothing special. From the decor of this place i expected alot better tasting the food. The dish my friend had orderd was a type of pasta i forget what kind it was it had alot of tomato sauce too much tomato sauce! The only thing that i actually really liked was the pizza. I would've been more satisfied had i ordered that. The pizza was delicious.

The decor of this restaurant is really romantic, elegant and calm. This is the type of restaurant you bring a date too. The atmosphere is so come and relaxing. It would be more preferred by adults looking for a relaxing and smooth place to dine. The service was alright the waiter was polite but wasn't to good at explaining the different types of dishes especially in English. The price for the food is pretty affordable the price varies depending on what you order then again it could be lower for the food wasn't that great.

Vichy

Vichy’s is an international all you can eat buffet. They have a variety of different things to choose from. Most of the times that I been here was for birthday Parties. If you like a restaurant that can accommodate a lot of people then this is place you. Like other all you can eat buffets there is no waiting on food as soon as your seated you can go get your food right away. The staff is friendly the waiter I had was very sociable and outgoing. The food on the other hand was the down fall of this restaurant. I find the food pretty plain, there is nothing good about it, the price is pretty cheap though.

From the outside view there’s a big green sign that says Vichy in cursive writing that lights up. It’s actually pretty appealing and catchy. As you walk in now, rows of food are right in front of you and you can’t help but stare. The walls, tables and chair’s are mahogany. To differentiate the sections their are large glassless windows with blue frames. The décor of is pretty simple nothing fancy. It would be best to dress casual when you come here. The atmosphere is bit noisy because there is usually a lot of families that eat here. The staff is friendly or at least my waiter was, she was very sociable and had a positive attitude which made the dinning experience not as bad.

The food is…well not the best. I’ve been here quiet a few times and I must say I never really enjoyed the food. Their pork souvlaki looks tasty but the meat is actually dry. I always have to pull and rip the meat off and then force myself to swallow the dry block of meat ad feels like a rock shoving it’s way down to my esophagus. Another thing is that that food never seems fresh. It always tastes like it’s been sitting there for hours. The main reason for getting more food is because I wasn’t satisfied with what was in my plate. They serve a bit of everything that’s the good part so you have a lot of other choices but if you’re looking for an extravagant meal then this isn’t the place for you. This is more of a place for kids who are picky eaters and rather enjoy quantity over quality.

Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge is a fancy steak house known for ribs. Now usually this was one of my main restaurants go to because not only is the food good (delicious ribs!) but they served alot of food so much that i'd usually end up bringing some back home. Of course that came with a price though which is pretty much the reason why i'm not so eager to rush back there. The atmosphere is a bit noisy but that wasn't too much a problem for me. The service is not bad but it could've been better.

When i first walked in i didn't know what to expect, i've always heard about this restaurant and heard that it 's expensive, so i never actually thought to go. From the looks of it and the way other people interpret it i thought i had to come dressed in fancy attire. So that's exactly what i did. When i arrived there it was quiet busy took me about a good 3 minutes before i actually got seated. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from  you can choose from dinner our lunch menu, they pretty much have the same thing. Each dish comes with a side option of garlic mashed potato, baked potato, french fries, hot cinnamon apples and coleslaw. After choosing my plate i waited about 15 minutes before my plate arrived. When it finally did come i couldn't help but notice how big my plate was. The plate was oval shaped and long, most of it was covered with skinny cut fries and and on the side lay a nice long juicy looking portion of bbq ribs hmmm :)and in small corner help a tiny bowl of hot apple cinnamon. The ribs tasted delicious, the meat was tender and when i bit into it the meat gladly slid of the bone, no ripping or pulling. The bbq sauce was good too  it was unlike the other kinds that i've tasted were the taste is so strong that after a while i don't want anymore. The fries where nothing special it felt like they were just there to be there. They were satisfying with the ribs. The hot apple cinnamon as good as it sounds wasn't really all that good in fact i couldn't even finish it. Basically it was sliced apples warmed up and sprinkled with cinnamon you can make it at home.

The inside decor is beautiful and cozy. The walls are made of red brick, and everywhere else mahogany/burgundy coloured. The booths were especially cozy and most of all private. What i loved the most were the yellow lamps everywhere some where hung on the walls and some were set on tables. Very stylish it sort of gave off a low light effect. The inside of the bathroom was just as pretty the doors of the stalls were a rich mahogany wood designed to look like thick curtains with silver doorknobs. The walls were tiled a dark blue and the sink was made of beige coloured marble. Each sink was made of stainless steel and had a mirror above it. Honestly it was one of the prettiest bathrooms i've ever been too.

The service was not bad very mediocre the waiter was nice did his job well meaning that i like a waiter that's patient and  knows the menu inside out because i like to ask alot of questions. The food didn't take long to come as i mentioned earlier it took about 15 minutes. The only thing that could've been better was that the waitor took kind of long to bring back the bill, rather than that it was okay.
