Frontline

Frontline is a small Caribbean restaurant located on Van Horne and Lavoie. It's nothing fancy if that's what your looking for but the food is good and affordable. The atmosphere is eh well i would prefer to eat at home. The service is pretty good though! and if your not in the mood to get up not worries...free delivery! Frontline is a typical Caribbean restaurant and if you're in the mood for some good jerk chicken that's the place to go. The dishes are served in sizes small or large; and if your thinking small is petit not in this case small was like the norm so imagine what the large is like.

Upon arrival of this restaurant you'll notice it's not anything big and flashy. There's just a small sign above it that says Frontline. The restaurant was empty at the time so it wasn't too noisy. Behind the ordering counter is a small tv hung up in the corner which really was the main source of noise, it was not all disturbing though. The walls are painted white and have pictures of famous people in black people like Melcome X, Bob Marley etc. Really that about the only sort of decoration they have. The restaurant is pretty small so there's only a few tables to sit at. At the counter where you order the food reveals a small part of the kitchen where the food is made but that's about it. If you ever happened to have to use the bathroom there...well it would be best to hold it. Not that's it's nasty or anything but it's pretty cramped in there. Then again it really isn't the type of bathroom you want to take your time in.
I ordered a small oxtail which came with rice, and a piece of dumplin. The oxtail tasted really good but i notice it had alot of fat in it which sort of killed it for me.I especially like the spice in the meat which made very tasteful. Everything else was okay wasn't amazing but wasn't bad either. Overall the food was pretty satisfying in the way that filled my belly. The service was really good, the lady that served me was really nice and really good with explaining the other dishes. Alot of the times i find that the people who take orders don't know much about the different dishes. I like how the food didn't take long to come at all too.

After a few experiences at this restaurant it  seems like the type of restaurant anyone can go to for a good lunch/dinner. I suggest not to come in a large group but a group of 3 or 4 is good. The price is pretty good for the amount of food that you receive, and their are lots of choices to choose from. You can choose meat between chiken, oxtail, goat ar fish and choose to have it done anyway you like curry, jerk etc. The drinks are nothing special, drinks you can get at the corner store. They have malt, can bottles, coconut water etc.
