Dolci Piu

Dolci Piu is a small bakery known for cakes mainly wedding cakes. If you have a sweet tooth this is definitely where you want to be. They sell all kinds of sweet from chocolate to your favorite gelato. The atmosphere is pretty homey made me feel like I was just at home. The service wasn’t so good.

The pastry on the other hand was delicious. I had marble cheesecake with two chocolate chip short bread cookies. The cheesecake was amazing, soft and nice. When you see it, it looks small like it won’t full you but trust me that’s all you need. It tastes so good you have to eat it slow. The cookies were really good too, although I found it a bit expensive for one. One cookie cost like dollar and it was so tiny. For an entrée the price is under ten dollars but the individual price for certain items were a little expensive. The décor is very decent and homelike. With all the goodies and cakes around you it adds a little umph to the décor makes it look more exciting. When you walk in it makes you feel like a kid a again.

The service could’ve been better though, the worker didn’t seem like she knew to much about anything. That wasn’t a problem maybe if she was new. I didn’t like how every time I asked her a question she seemed frustrated and wasn’t afraid to show it. I would understand if she didn’t know, the answer, if that was the case she could’ve just said that. I asked her a question about one of the pastries, what was it and she rudely told me the name of it. I still didn’t know what it was so I asked her again nicely if she could explain what it is and she answered again even more rudely and frustrated said it was cookie from France. I guess that was all she knew about the cookie she didn’t bother to ask her co worker or anything instead she kept angrily hassling me to pay up. Another thing was that while I was eating I saw the worker handling some of the cookies, she was using something to place them but she couldn’t maneuver it properly so she used her BARE hands to touch them. I kept watching her and to my surprise without a worried look she shoved her hand in her braw and pulled it out and continued fiddling with the cookies.(not a good look)

786 Halal

This is a Pakistani restaurant located on jean talon. They sell a variety of Pakistani and Indian dishes. You can choose from chicken, lamb, fish or beef and have it curried, barbequed or try some of their Tandoori delights. If you’re a spice type of restaurant then this is the place for you. The food is wonderful and the staff is nice. The atmosphere is inviting. I ordered the Tilapia fish and honestly I never tasted fish as good as this. It’s not to spicy but the spice is definitely there and adds flavor. It had a lot of big bones to watch out for though. Had some of the Biryani rice to go with the fish it was okay for me tasted pretty good nothing special though. For twenty dollars you can get yourself a satisfying dish. I suggest to bring a little extra for dessert.

When you first walk in it’s hard not too notice the nice smell of the roast meat. The décor is alright it has a sort of wooden style to it, the floors, tables and chairs and some of the walls are wooden. There is a few pictures up on the wall. I like the light that hangs down from the ceiling that’s pretty For some reason it feels décor will have you feeling like you‘re on a boat with all the wood around you. If you’re planning on coming here no need to dress up. This restaurant for anyone to enjoy.

Tropical Hawaii

From the outside looking in it’s like you see a little indoor paradise. It’s very eye appealing especially if the time is cold and windy. As you walk in it’s like you’ve stepped onto a tropical island. there is a lot to look at. The menu includes a picture of everything, and for a while I just stood in my place and stared at all the mouth watering pictures. The restaurant had perfected the Hawaiian theme. There were palm trees everywhere and the walls were a painted to look like a beach. The atmosphere was inviting and soothing. Made me feel like I was on vacation. This restaurant is the type of restaurant anyone will enjoy. The staff was really nice she helped me make by order by giving me a brief summary about what was in each of the drinks, which was very helpful because there was a lot to choose from and I wanted to choose the right one for me.

I ordered a drink called “Cocktail Hawaii”. In it has a variety of fruits from bananas, pineapples, apple, canto lop, strawberry, kiwi and mango mixed in Hawaiian juice which is made from milk, strawberries and banana. On top you get to choose your choice of gelato or ashata. They by far have the best gelato flavors like pina colada gelato, Hawaiian gelato, coconut, caramel, and cheesecake etc. They all sound delicious, I went with the cheesecake one. The drink was delicious excellent, the best cocktail I ever had and was fulling too. The drink was fruity and refreshing. The cheesecake gelato on top was one of the best parts of the drink. It was so good, it was sweet and refreshing I loved it. This is definitely a restaurant I’ll be visiting often. Come dressed casual no need for anything fancy. If you like exotic drinks then you need to come and try one of the drinks here you’ll be amazed.

This restaurant is known for their healthy breakfast. Their dishes mainly consist of fruits. For breakfast they have a variety of crepes and waffles to choose from. They also sell gelato, smoothies and cocktails. For one dish it’s almost ten dollars and for one of their delicious cocktails it’s about seven dollars more. It’s under twenty dollars but the price of just one cocktail is pretty expensive but it’s worth every penny. The décor is really pretty there were palm trees and everything to make you feel like you were in Hawaii. The atmosphere is relaxing and soothing. The service is fast and friendly. The lady that served me was really sweet and was a great in helping me choose my order.

Star Of India

This restaurant as you can tell is Indian cuisine and located on St. Catherine  Downtown. They sell all sorts of indian dishes. If you like indian food  or your not familiar with it but would like to try it i suggest you come her. With great service, friendly staff and good food you're guaranteed to have the perfect dining experience. The decor is Inidan themed of course and they  do a great job of it. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The food is delicious and full of taste.

The decor of the restaurant is really Indian. The walls are a faded pinkish colour. Their is alot of Indian decorations and pictures on the walls. The chairs are wooden and the tables are squares with white and brown table cloth over them. The pictures on the wall looked like very ancient some of them looked like hand made carpets that told ancient stories. On the second floor where i was sitting there was perfect view of a beautiful Indian mannequin wearing a sari. The place was really clean and neat. The bathroom on the other hand was one of those single bathrooms and you could hear every single noise coming from the kitchen. Not a bathroom you want to spend to long on in i found myself rushing to get out. If you're planning on coming here casual dressing is more for this restaurant. This seems like the type of restaurants that would attract more adults that teens due to the cozy and warm atmosphere.

I ordered the butter chicken dish with a side of white rice and nan bread. It didn't take too long to come probably took around twenty minutes. The waiter was really nice and great at explaining the different types of dishes. The butter chicken was really good and tasted sweet. The butter chiken was tasteful and went perfect with the white rice. The nan bread was thin and baked to perfection. I really enjoyed this dish it really good and satisfying, it was my first time going to an Indian restaurant and i've never really been a fan of it but after the dish i had today i love Indian food. The dessert was even better i ordered an ice cream called "Kulfi" which tasted like sweet mango and it was one of the best ice creams i've ever tasted! This restaurant wasn't that expensive and the dish was worth every penny.

Kam Shing

Kam Shing is Chinese and Szechwan restaurant located on cote des neiges. They have a variety of different Chinese or Szechwan food to choose from. What I liked about this restaurant was that they serve a lot of food. The service is fast an they also do delivery. The atmosphere can get a bit noisy at times, but if you like real culinary Chinese food I suggest you come here.
I ordered the shrimp fried rice and the mixed vegetable chicken. It took around 20 minutes before I received it. Everything comes separate, the rice in one bowl and the meat in the other. One of the things I noticed was that instead of serving free water, They actually served Chinese herbal tea. When I first took a sip of I didn’t like it at al. Then something weird happened …I took another sip and another and another and another. The tea was soothing warmed up my tummy I actually ended up really liking it. I’m not a tea person but since then I find myself often buying Chinese herbal tea at the grocery store. The rice was hot and nice and every grain was cooked to perfection. The shrimps were small and their wasn’t anything special about it. It went well with the fried rice though. The chicken was pretty good, it was served in a bowl of vegetables like carrots and broccoli. Even the vegetables tasted good to me and I usually don’t like vegetables. The meat of the chicken was succulent and tasty. The sauce that came with it in the bowl of chicken and vegetables made it taste even better.

The décor could’ve been better for such a good restaurant. I found it very boring and plain. Their were no pictures on the wall or anything. The tables didn’t even have table clothes on them and those tables really needed some. The tables were plain nothing pretty. The atmosphere wasn’t really cozy or anything, it was a bit noisy at times. The staff were pretty boring and plain weren’t good at explaining what the dish contained of, the English and French was horrible pretty hard to understand anything they say. They just looked like they didn’t want to be bothered. The older staff seemed more experienced and were more outgoing. The price isn’t bad for the amount of food you receive. The meat, rice/noodles , soups etc all have their own price ranging from ten to twenty dollars per entrée. This type of restaurant is more for groups or families and the dress is casual. Overall great restaurant food wise.

Fu Lam

Fu Lam is a all you can eat Chinese Buffet! I like eating here because it's not like some of the other all you can eat buffet's that i've been to, where the price is affordable but the food is garbage. The food here actually tastes good for the price you pay, and their's a variety of things to choose from. Even their dessert table tastes good. You can choose from fruits to cake to ice cream all at an affordable price, and they also do delivery. The service could be a little better though I feel a little rushed sometimes. The atmosphere in there can get pretty noisy too. This restaurant is perfect for you if you're mad hungry and you feel like you can eat a whole cow without harming your wallet. On the other hand it's nothing worth rushing back to.

The thing about all you can eat restaurants is that you get to try anything you want! Another thing is that you get to have all you want so if you’re in the mood for say just shrimps, you can have all the shrimp you want with anything to go with it. You can change up your option every time and you get to choose how much you want. As soon as you get you’re table your pretty much free to go get your plate you don’t have to wait or nothing. My dad always brings the family here when were all in need of something to eat. One of my favorite things to eat here is their “shrimp”. The food is served hot but it’s not top notch, not delicious in the sense that you have to be rushing back too it was just okay in other words it was satisfying.

The service is pretty good, their pretty fast especially on busy days. The down fall to that is that I tend to feel rushed when they do that. As soon as I head for dessert they hand out the bill. The place is kept pretty clean, even their bathroom is kept neat. The décor isn’t so fancy though as you walk in there are pretty figurines and vases but as you walk on it gets pretty plain, there really isn’t much to stare at besides the food that stands in the center. The walls are bare and have no pictures or paintings on it. This restaurant is good for all kinds of occasions and it attracts all kinds of people.

Paris Crepes

This restaurant is known for their crepes. it’s located on Ste Catherine street downtown, If you have a sweet tooth this is the place the go. They sell a bunch of pastries like cheesecake, brownies etc. They sell a variety of different crepes. They have some with fruits and nutella and breakfast ones that come with scrambled egg. The atmosphere is inviting and the service is fast, what more could you ask for. You can get a decent entrée for under ten bucks.

I ordered the apple cinnamon with nutella. Honestly I expected better but it still tasted pretty good. It wasn’t my first time here and I know there crepes are pretty good from past experience. When you walk in the smell of the crepes being made is so intriguing but when you actually taste the dough of the crepe it’s actually tasteless. I noticed that with all their crepes. The strawberry banana and nutella crepe taste pretty good but isn’t the best, there just good. The apple cinnamon and caramel crepe was good but after a while I found myself tired of tasting so much apple. The taste of the apple was so strong it drained out all the other tastes.

One thing I liked about this restaurant is that you get to see from beginning to end how they prepare the crepe. Also there id this window where as you walk by the restaurant on the street you see them prepare the crepe live. It’s draws a lot of attention from the passers on the street me being one of them. The décor inside is pretty homey. The aroma of the crepes makes it feel so inviting. The workers are friendly too but their not so good with speaking English.

Yia Sou

This is greek restaurant located on queen mary street. They sell a variety of greek dishes. The atmosphere is cool and relaxing. The service is okay and the waiter was quiet charming. The food wasn’t all that great I expected better but it was still satisfying. This is not a restaurant you need to rush back too.

For an appetizer we were served bread and butter. My mom whom I came with was starving and ate most of it, when I asked the lady who seated us for some more she seemed irritated and never came back with anything. I ordered the chicken brochette which is grilled chicken breast. It took about 15 minutes before I received it. Their were about five small pieces of grilled chicken lined down the middle the middle of the plate. On one half there was a small portion of rice with two potato balls on each side of it. On the other half of the plate is a Cesar salad. The chicken was good but it wasn’t great I’ve tasted better. The rice and potatoes were nothing special. The salad was okay nothing to brag about. I would’ve enjoyed the dish more if their were more chicken breast and not so much salad. The cost was pretty decent for the meal, twenty dollars can get you a satisfying plate If you plan to go all out and order dessert you might want to bring a little extra.

The décor was really nice. I like the style it reminded me of some sort of a resort. The lights were dim low and the restaurant was quiet empty at the time. This made the atmosphere cool and relaxing like I could stay there all the day. The counter and wall was made of a long beige colored stone. Other sides of the walls had painting picture of ancient Greece. There were also some plants that came along the wall. In the middle of the restaurant was this tree surrounding it were other plants. Light sources hung from the ceiling and looked very pretty. This seem like a restaurant anyone will enjoy. there is also a tv in there were you could come hang out and watch the game with your friends. If you’re wondering what to wear dress casual for this restaurant it’s really nothing to fancy.

Villa Wellington

Villa Wellington is a small Peruvian restaurant. If you’re looking for somewhere cozy to dine then this is a suggestion. This restaurant offers a variety of Peuvian dishes. The food is really good and unique from all the others. For twenty dollars you can get a delicious and satisfying meal, but don’t forget bring a little extra for the fine Peruvian waiters.

I ordered a dish called “Mero a lo Macho” and to drink I had an “inka cola”. It took around 15 minutes for my dish to arrive. The waiter was friendly and great at helping make my order by explaining what the different dishes had to offer. Mero a lo macho consisted of shrimps and scallops, rice and tomato with melted cheese on top. The large amount of shrimps and scallops were glazed in a orange colored sauce that tasted really nice. The spice in it was mild and unlike ant other spice I’ve tasted. That mixed with the rice was delicious. The tomato with the melted cheese on top was also very good. The way they placed everything was pretty and also the way they cut the tomatoes and put the melted cheese on top looked like a work of art. This definitely has become one of my favorite restaurants. The food was satisfying and I had enough left back to carry home my mom loved it.

This restaurant would be perfect for couples. The lights are dim low which gives it this cozy effect. There’s a few figurines hung up on the wall that make up the décor. The blinds on the windows are really pretty and fancy. The front counter is pretty messy though and behind it reveals apart of the kitchen which makes it look a little tacky. Since the restaurant is pretty small it would be best to make a reservation first. In case you’re wondering what to wear come dressed casually.

Maroush

This is a small Lebanese restaurant located on Cote des neiges and the corner of Van Horne. They sell a variety of dishes and sandwiches. I ordered the mixte shwarma and had it rolled in a pita for the go. In case you’re wondering what that is like myself when I first ordered it here’s a brief overview : inside has three different kinds of meat beef, chicken and lamb which is put together on a flat bread called pita and rolled up like taco and put in foil paper. The interesting thing about this is how it’s made. So there’s this long stick/log and around is a massive amount of raw meat. As the meat rotates on the log it slowly gets heated by a hating source behind it. Once cooked the meat is thinly sliced off with a large knife.

The Shwarma I ordered was pretty good although after a few bites I got tired of it. I don’t know what exactly it was but something in it was kind of hard which made it difficult to chew. Or maybe it was the fact that it had so much things in it that made it hard. The meat tasted good although when it was in my mouth I couldn’t identify which was which. They all had a similar taste that I liked and never tasted before . The atmosphere in there is really dead. The only noise came from the cars outside there was only one other person eating there so there was no loud chattering. The style was really simple there was nothing hanging on the wall. The walls were a darkish orange on top and a brown tile on the lower half. The restaurant is pretty small so there was only a few seats. Not the type of restaurant to accommodate large groups of people. More a type of restaurant anyone will enjoy alone or with a friend or two. They also have free wi fi so you can bring your lap top!

The service is great the staff was very friendly and inviting. Most of all they were very good at explaining the different dishes they have and what they consisted of. In fact when I went there I couldn’t find my interact card and the guy was nice to offer me the meal free of charge as long as I visited again soon. Overall this was an okay restaurant if you’re looking for a calm and quiet place to dine this is the place to go.
